Simplehome: What We Do

The mission of Simplehome is to provide simple and timeless design concepts for sustainable, modest, single family houses.

We offer design concept drawings that can be used to obtain preliminary pricing from contractors and preliminary approvals from building officials and lenders. Our product is intended to give people the information required to explore the possibilities of building a house at a minimal initial investment.

The Simplehome approach addresses the following main ideas:

It is easier and less expensive to modify an existing plan than it is to create an original design.
Most people want the opportunity to make changes and customize a house plan to suit their particular needs.
Different regions of the country recognize different building traditions.

Our drawings are the beginning of the design process. They can be taken as drawn, or they can be modified to address particular site requirements and personal preferences. Simplehome encourages the active participation of local building professionals by intentionally not providing construction drawings. Our product represents the schematic design process documentation of a typical architect’s office at a fraction of the typical fee. We can offer this product at a savings because of the potential for multiple sales of the same documents.

Design Concept Documentation includes the following:

Floor plans, drawn to scale, with dimensions showing overall area, room sizes and window and door locations identified by “centerline of opening”.
All building elevations with materials noted and rendered.
Most of our Design Plan Sets include typical building cross sections dimensioned to show top of structure, window heights, and significant architectural features.
